Is your connection actually good? Get a verdict.

Paste in your download, upload and ping numbers — get an Excellent / Good / Fair / Poor grade with plain-English advice on what the connection can handle.

What it does

Numbers are meaningless without a verdict.

“47 Mbps down, 90 ms ping” — so what? Can you take the Zoom call? Stream the match? This grader applies fixed, transparent thresholds to your numbers and tells you exactly what the connection is good for.

✓

Transparent thresholds

Excellent needs 50+ Mbps down and ≤30 ms ping; Good 25+ Mbps and ≤60 ms; Fair 10+ Mbps and ≤120 ms. No black box — the rules are on this page.

✓

Ping matters as much as speed

A 100 Mbps line with 300 ms ping is miserable for calls and gaming. The grader weighs latency alongside bandwidth, like reality does.

✓

Advice per grade

Each verdict ships with what to do: what works, what to avoid, and when to switch to your eSIM’s mobile data instead.

✓

Pairs with the speed test

No numbers handy? Run our speed test first, then grade the result here.

Interactive grader

Grade your connection.

Enter the three numbers from any speed test. The grade uses the exact thresholds from our published tool — nothing hidden.

Under the hood

Real parameters, real behavior.

In the esimgomobile ChatGPT app and API, this tool is called with exactly these parameters — nothing hidden, nothing invented.

ParameterTypeWhat it is
download_mbpsnumberDownload speed in megabits per second.
upload_mbpsnumberUpload speed in megabits per second.
ping_msnumberRound-trip latency in milliseconds.

How it works

  1. You supply three numbers — download, upload, ping — from any speed test.
  2. The tool applies fixed thresholds: Excellent (≥50 Mbps, ≤30 ms), Good (≥25 Mbps, ≤60 ms), Fair (≥10 Mbps, ≤120 ms), else Poor.
  3. It returns the grade plus a practical verdict on what the connection handles.
  4. All computation happens on your inputs alone — no network access, no account, nothing stored.
Honest capability note

What this tool can and can’t do.

The grader judges the numbers you give it — it can’t measure your connection itself (that’s the speed test’s job) and it can’t fix a bad one. Grades are guidance, not guarantees: a “Good” hotel Wi-Fi at 3am may be “Poor” at 8pm when everyone’s streaming. Re-grade when conditions change.

Questions, answered

Before you ask.

What do the grades mean in practice?
Excellent handles 4K streaming, gaming and video calls with ease. Good is great for HD streaming, calls and remote work. Fair covers browsing, maps and SD video with some buffering. Poor is messaging-only territory.
Why does ping matter so much?
Ping is round-trip delay. Video calls and gaming need quick back-and-forth — 200 ms of delay makes conversations talk-over each other even on a fast line. That’s why the grader can’t give Excellent to a high-ping connection.
My download is fast but my grade is Fair — why?
Almost always ping. A 60 Mbps line with 150 ms latency grades Fair, correctly: downloads fly, but anything interactive feels sluggish.
What’s a good ping for travel?
Under 60 ms is comfortable for calls; under 30 ms is excellent. Hotel Wi-Fi often lands 40–120 ms; a local eSIM on a nearby tower is frequently faster than the hotel’s backhaul.
Where do I get the three numbers?
Any speed test — including ours. Run the esimgomobile speed test, then paste the results here for the verdict.
Are the thresholds arbitrary?
No — they’re fixed, published, and identical between this page and our ChatGPT app tool: 50/30, 25/60, 10/120 for down-Mbps/ping-ms. Same inputs always give the same grade.

How Connection Quality Grader works

  1. Open the tool
    • No account needed — Connection Quality Grader runs right in your browser.
    • Everything happens on the page; nothing to install.
  2. Enter your details
    • Answer the few questions the tool asks — trip, destination, dates.
    • The tool validates as you type so mistakes get caught early.
  3. Get your answer
    • Results appear instantly, computed from your inputs.
    • Every result links onward to the next step — usually a plan or checkout.

The pattern is always the same: tell the tool a little about your trip, and it does the research you'd otherwise do across ten tabs.

Tools are free and instant. They're the fastest way to turn a vague travel question into a concrete next step.

When to use Connection Quality Grader

  • While planning: before you book anything, so connectivity is priced into the trip.
  • At the airport: for last-minute answers when plans change.
  • Mid-trip: when you need to top up, switch plans, or check what's next.
  • After the trip: to review what you used and plan smarter next time.

Bookmark it — travel questions have a habit of returning at the worst moment.

Most travelers use Connection Quality Grader once while planning and once on the road. Both visits take under a minute.

Tips for best results

  • Buy and install your eSIM before departure — airport Wi-Fi is the worst place to set up connectivity.
  • WhatsApp, iMessage and FaceTime keep your existing number on a data eSIM — no need to tell anyone a new number.
  • Check that your phone is carrier-unlocked before you buy any eSIM — locked phones can't add one.
  • Screenshot your hotel address and booking confirmations — you'll want them with no signal.
  • Download offline maps for your destination — they save data and work in dead zones.
  • Hotspot sparingly: one laptop tethered all day can burn through a week of phone data.

The tool is only as good as its inputs — a rough date range beats a perfect one you never enter.

If a result surprises you, rerun with different inputs. Exploring the options is the point.

What happens next

And if you'd rather talk it through, the Tele Agent answers the same questions conversationally, any time.

Every tool result points somewhere useful: usually a plan that fits, sometimes a guide that goes deeper.

From here the path is short — pick a plan, check out through Amazon Pay, scan the QR code, and you're done.
